I think people like the authenticity as I know first-hand what it’s like to work in an office full of people who are under pressure to solve a case. I met many interesting characters in my career as a police detective, colleagues as well as victims and perpetrators of crime. Was the inspiration for Truth and Lies linked to your career? And if so, when did the idea for the book first pop into your mind? I found it a fascinating subject to explore.Īs a former detective yourself, I am sure that you encountered lots of strange, exciting, and thought provoking adventures. As in the book, each time she visited her biological mother, she lost a little piece of her current self. As memories of her early life return, Amy begins to doubt herself.
